I’m going to assume you tried this link to get the drivers: I had a very similar issue that was stopping me from re-rooting after I pulled the official OTA. Just re-read the OP. First, find the appropriate driver for your device from the OEM drivers table below.
In the Device Manager right pane, locate and expand Portable Devices or Other Devicesdepending on which one you see.

The issue began with me because I rooted the device, used OTA rootkeeper, installed the OTA, but then Rootkeeper was unable to restore root, so I also tried to use the 1-click scripts. Click Browse and then locate the USB driver folder. Didnt work for my moto g.
In the Computer Management left pane, select Device Manager. Having done this, it all worked perfectly.
